Can you give a specific example? Show
- the CL definition of fld2 and the value of the fld2
- the RPG definition of the parameter
- how the RPG program is using the parameter

(I agree with Rob that it's best to define the CL and RPG the same. But I think it will be interesting for us to see what you are trying to do.)
