Hi Darryl
As long as the file exists in qtemp, you can prompt
For example
In STRSQL you can have
Select * from qtemp.FILE01
Press F4 for prompt
This will then display

FROM files . . . . . . . . . QTEMP.FILE01
SELECT fields . . . . . . . *
WHERE conditions . . . . . .
GROUP BY fields . . . . . .
HAVING conditions . . . . .
ORDER BY fields . . . . . .
FOR UPDATE OF fields . . . .

Then on the SELECT fields ..........
Press F4 again
This will display the fields in the file QTEMP/FILE01

Subject: [EXTERNAL] How can I get the DDL to display using ACS's interactive SQL?

I often need to be able to display the definition(DDL) of a table whilst using the interactive SQL.

Example I am working with data in a table in QTEMP using SELECT. I then need to see the DDL (fields and properties of the fields) but do not know how to do that.

The only way I can do it, is by using Schemas in ACS or iNav. However, when working with tables in QTEMP, this is not possible as Schemas starts a new job and I need a command to see the makeup of a table.

Is there a way to do this like using a SELECT command?

TIA, Darryl Freinkel
