HI Gad
The spool file QSYSPRT also has to be *AFPDS

Subject: [EXTERNAL] Print with overlay

Greetings sages

After 25 years with the AS400 / iSeries / System i / IBM i
this old dog needs to learn a new trick - print with overlay.

With some googling I managed to:

1. Create some overlays on my PC by printing a Word or jpg docs using
Generic InfoPrint 300dpi AFP with output option = Overlay.
2.View the A/M overlay(s) with AFP Workbench Viewer
3. Create a PF file on the IBM i
4. Upload the overlays to the (well, let it be) IBM i using FTP bin mode
5. Create *OVL using CRTOVL with DATATYPE(*AFPDS)
6. Overriding QSYSPRT by executing OVRPRTF FILE(QSYSPRT)
FRONTOVL(MYLIB/TESTOVL1)
7. Hitting Print screen key.

All the above steps were successfully executed save a minor issue ,
The spool file created has no overlay.

I must be doing something(s) wrong but I fail to find it
I suspect it has something to do with the target printer (Type 3812)
configuration
but I'm out of my depth here.

Any help will be deeply appreciated (be it this year or the coming one)

TIA

A Happy New (and Corona-free) Year to all
Gad
