I believe that supported levels of Windows no longer support guest users.

We use IBM Security Manager to keep our user id's and passwords in sync between the two.
Some people use Kerberos and EIM.

An alternative to QNTC and Windows sharing is to use NFS exports from Windows then use the MOUNT command on IBM i.
From the linux man page on export I see options to:
"Map all uids and gids to the anonymous user. Useful for NFS-exported public FTP directories, news spool directories, etc."
