That's what I did with my example, without the WHERE, which takes care of the situation Charles brought up, and that I think I've even done in production code! DOH!

I think the requested syntax might be used in other RDBMS, maybe SQL Server.

The DB team is usually going to go for standard SQL, they don't usually chase features from other products. It'll be interesting to see what is the outcome.
