Just thought it would be useful as the OP said his vendor wasn't that au fait with identity columns. Maybe he could pass it on.

...you can add "OVERRIDING SYSTEM VALUE" to the insert if you want to preserve the IDs of the original rows being copied in.

We are having an issue where a table with a SQL identity value isn't
updating. The HA vendor doesn't know much about those values.

I'm guessing there is an object somewhere that has to be updated as well?
