The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
We have an IBM I 740 with SCSI cards (5782) attached disk enclosures (5787).
The 5787 supports 24 drives (12 on the front and 12 in the rear).
There are four SCSI adapters (7041 single or 7042 double) mounted on the
5787. The top left/right control the front drives and the bottom
left/right control the rear drives.
Typically a SCSI cable runs from the SCSI card to a double repeater and
then a SCSI pigtail runs from the double over to the single repeater on
the other side.
Our understanding is that it doesn't matter which side has the double or
the single.
We had a situation where we set it up as noted above but we couldn't get
the single to function (no lights, no drives).
We replaced the single with a double and, voila, it worked.
The outside of the double is pigtailed over to the outside of the new
double.
Anyone know why? Mystery to us.
Thanks,
Jerry
