If you want to see what your command string is, a less ugly way than
DMPCLPGM might be to use SNDPGMMSG

it's possibly just a bad habit of mine to use the dump command

Sometimes I use a variable &qt to make it easier so DCLVAR VAR(&QT)
VALUE('''') <- Thats 4 single quotes again! Two to denote a string and
then
a quote escaped by a quote

Ah, I see. Honestly, this confuses me more, in a way. But thanks for the
recommendation!

I tend to build up my strings line by line rather than all in one go as
CL is a bit of a pain for building strings.

Let's say, it's less cumbersome than positional RPG. ;-)

And, since this should run on old machines, I try to keep calls to qsh at
a minimum. I still feel appalled that Java needs about 30 seconds to start
and unpack a 100 KBytes ZIP file on my 150. ;-)

If you do a DMPCLPGM you can get a good look at your string.

Now, this is a very helpful command! Thanks!
