Ha!  Ha ha, I say!  I chortle in amusement at your 640K!  Back in the day we hung an async box off of a Series/1 and I had to make the entire custom operating system fit onto an 8K EPROM.  Burn it, find a bug, throw it out and burn another one!  Eventually we sprang for an EEPROM, so that we could at least erase it and rewrite it.

Ah, those were the days.

I seem to also remember IRQ conflicts. Not sure if that's relevant.
