I am reading a file in a CL program. The file has a variable length field.
I don't remember the rules as to how CL works with variable length fields.
I know you cannot declare a *VARCHAR field.
This is on a V7.2 system.
It was my understanding that CLLE programs would automagically convert
VARCHAR fields to CHAR fields at maximum length. However, this does not
work.
What is the process to work with VARCHAR fields?
