We have a "new" 740 with two SCSI RAID cards with cache batteries.
The machine was mothballed for a year plus in a warehouse.
The cache battery display in SST says they are still good (89 days
remaining) but we are suspicious as the machine is inherently slow
consistent with no cache batteries.
Our plan is to replace the cache batteries.
Comments on the likelihood of the cache batteries being depleted?
My understanding is that the SST display is based on a days calc and not
on actual monitoring of the battery status like we have on phones, pads,
etc.
