Hello Paul,

I created one years back on a Power7 client, had to create a an Ethernet bridge on the I host.
Does the Ethernet need to be bridged or are there other options?

I'm using the HEA in my E4A mainly. One port goes into internal LAN (access port on the switch), one other goes to a VLAN trunk on the Switch. The switch is configured to only pass certain VLANs and the IBM i guest partitions provide the necessary VLAN tags.

While this is not 100% secure, it's secure enough in a partly trusted environment. And I can leave out the bridging function, from which I've read that it's using the CPU in the hosting LPAR to do bridging.

If you think, this is interesting, let me know about further details you need to know.
