I have several customers using Brad's tools. They are quite happy with the
tooling and support.

for Overlays

We have had a lot of customers move to SPLTOOL for this. Here's a high
level article on it:
https://www.fieldexit.com/forum/display?threadid=12

In a nutshell, you create your overlay as a PDF. Then your data gets
printed on a simple *SCS spooled file. SPLTOOL then converts the spooled
file to PDF and adds the PDF overlay to it. Think of it as a digital
overlay.

The data/text from the spooled file will be a standard courier font
(non-proportional) but normally that's not an issue. There is an option to
use Times or Helvetica fonts but they are proportional fonts so that makes
alignment with the overlay an issue.

The overlay can have logos, colors, etc. Anything you want to design.

SPLTOOL also has the ability to add images or bar codes after the fact to
the PDF as well.

Price is just over $360 a year per partition. That includes support,
maintenance, upgrades, etc. Licenses are also transferable with no fee to
replacement partitions.

Feel free to contact me with any questions. Thanks!

We are on an iSeries at OS 7.2 and process direct to customer orders
for a number of different retail customers. Most of them require that
we include Branded Packing Slips in the shipments that include their
logo and very specific formatting. We have been using AFP overlays to
accomplish this and haven't been thrilled with the process involved.
Now with the elimination of support for AFP printing, we are looking
to see if there are any IBM or 3rd party packages that can do this,
hopefully in a more efficient manner.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
