Thanks for your reply Greg
I was hoping to take an "easy" way out (at least at the beginning
CPYSPLF would not require any changes to any program that creates the spool files as we have approximately 8 or 9 different print programs (don't ask)
I was thinking of applying CPYSPLF to what is already being created

Let me see what I can find in my investigation (hopefully)

Alan,

We currently do this... I opted to use the OVRPRTF to send my output to PDF rather than CPYSPLF. Don't know if there is something similar you can do with OVRPRTF.
&STMF represents the IFS path/filename for the PDF file.

FWIW - we are using AFP in the Printer File (INVOICE) to create the lines, etc. and a PAGESEG for the logo.

This is from my CL pgm.

/* Adding the PAGESIZE parameter fixes the extra whitespace on the */
/* right side of PDF page */
OVRPRTF FILE(INVOICE) DEVTYPE(*AFPDS) PAGESIZE(66 +
105) FRONTMGN(0 0) TOSTMF(&STMF) +
WSCST(*PDF)

Subject: Trying to use CPYSPLF to create a PDF

Hi everyone
We are on V7r3
I have been asked to look into creating and e-mailing our invoices as pdf's from the AS/400

I already knew about the changes to CPYSPLF, so I thought that I would look into that The command I used was

CPYSPLF FILE(INVOICE) TOFILE(*TOSTMF) JOB(192813/CREDSALE36/JKEITTB) TOSTMF('/ashore/invoice.pdf') WSCST(*PDF) STMFOPT(*REPLACE)

The INVOICE spool file has an overlay

I then used this command to e-mail it to myself

SNDSMTPEMM RCP(('ashore@xxxxxxxx')) SUBJECT('Sending a pdf file') ATTACH(('/ashore/invoice.pdf'))

When I received the e-mail, the overlay was there, but the characters (print) were not where it should be - in the boxes The characters were "pushed" to the left

I googled CPYSPLF and came across this web page https://www.rpgpgm.com/2014/03/creating-pdf-files-from-spool-files.html

and I checked the ptf's mentioned
Both of the ptf's mentioned there are on our system
5770TS1 *COMPATIBLE IBM Transform Services for i
5770TS1 *COMPATIBLE Transforms - AFP to PDF Transform

Does anyone have any ideas as to what I did wrong or is missing?
As always, all answers gratefully accepted
