Sure - from a windows command line try
net view \\shareipaddress /all
and point it to an ip address that has a hidden share. All the dollar sign does is warn certain programs not to show the share. Windows explorer being the main one. The raw protocols still list the shares.

Yes. But you're really missing the point. If the user who is using this share has a pc which gets hit by ransomeware it will lock all objects on your IBM i and it will basically be toast.

Remove the share.
