Exactly. POWER will draw some, but at least in the US where electricity is still cheap, power (aside from that. 200v thing) is a non-concern.

Then again check the models. Many of the 1U/2U models will run IBM i, just not all of the cores in one partition. Now you are drivIng your hardware cost way down. The only problem with those is limited storage, without a SAN which blows up the cost savings

My new Windows box with 6 spinny drives, an SSD and two 24" monitors can go up to 400W when I crank up the graphics card. I had to get a new UPS for my office because of it. :)

I know that my 8203-E4A with four CPUs (or cores?), five 10k disks, 32GB of RAM, RAID option, and HEA draws around 400W when idle. And creates an awful lot of noise.

That's (also) why I stick to my relatively savvy 150: Four 10k-Disks, 192MB RAM (max), Ethernet, TR, around 100W. :-)

For Comparison, an 800, disabled sidecar, two 10k-disks, 4GB RAM draws around 170W.

So, power is really something to take into account when comparing with "cloud" (aka: hosted) solutions.
