Radio Erewan always tells us: it depends. 256k Buffers might be ok for normal use and reduce some interrupts. If you have RAM, you might consider to go up to 8MB, but the overall gain might be one or two percent. Without knowing about usage, network and remote connections, no general recommendation is a very valid recommendation.
Except for: if you are on 8k, increase it :)
