Re: How to prevent developers from creating views over production files

Our reason for not wanting them created is due to the problems it may cause when trying to recreate production tables. Our change management software will recreate any views that are related to the table. Currently, the profile used to do the recreate does not have *ALLOBJ and therefore may not have authority to recreate the view in the developers library. That could cause the production cutover process to fail, which we don't want. Maybe I'm missing something and it isn't a big deal, but it seems like it might cause us some problems.

Maybe I need to test it out and verify my assumptions.

Unlike traditional logical files, SQL views can't be used for updates.
