I use T-Bird (why did the Mozilla Foundation name its email reader after
a cheap wine) at my work email address; my employer uses GMail as its
mail server.
I subscribe directly, as an email list server, receiving individual
postings. I've never actually needed to see my own (I do get "post
acknowledgments"), because my T-Bird is configured to save all outgoing
messages to the local Sent folder.
On the other hand, I subscribe to PIPORG-L on my personal email, through
my ISP (which uses a wretched product called SmarterMail), and if I
reply using the server's web interface (because I'm not at home), then
even if I explicitly ask it to cc me, I still don't get it (even in my
server-side spam-filter), because it evidently trips some anti-spoofing
function that sends it directly to the bit-bucket.
