According to the V7R4 Memo to Users, the CCSID default has been changed from 819 to 1208.

This question was asked in Nov 2019 and the response was

"Found the answer.. PASE_DEFAULT_UTF8 set to N and things will go back to normal."

We use the JAR command to .ZIP files and send to our customers. Should I be concerned about this change, if so what is a recommended approach to using the "PASE_DEFAULT_UTF=N" ?

One thing I've noticed on the JAR command with V7R4 is that the files
created have a CCSID of 1208 vs 819 on V7R3 and previous.

I am using JAR to zip files, just so we know that's what it's for.

Now, I am searching and not finding any information on how to specify a
CCSID on the QSH JAR command.

It's not grabbing the CCSID from the parent folder, as that is 1252 in
this case.

Any ideas?

TIA
Michael Smith
