I'd like to dovetail another question onto this thread.....I made an assumption with the scenario in which this happened that a user closing out their interactive session by using the MS Windows "X" in the corner of the window could leave files open, and because of that leave records locked.  Maybe I'm wrong about this.  Is there some sort of timeframe after which this session would just go away?  Would it have anything to do with the system value that kicks users off (I think it's QINACTIV or something like that)?  Or can a session truly just be hung, completely open, record locks in place,  for a relatively infinite period of time by closing out of their interactive session in this way?  I'm also wondering if a network disruption would cause the same symptoms.  What I saw was the "session stopped by request from device" message in the job log from 6 pm the previous day, but the job still showed active, with open files, when using WRKUSRJOB at 7 pm the next day.

Any info is, as always, appreciated.
