We are thinking of deploying two Power 9 servers in our DC's. Their storage
requirements are not large (5TB) but the data is important so we want to
use a SAN. But it's hard to find SANs with that capacity since it's quite
low. Our DC's have large HPE 3PAR SANs and we could use them by just
carving up some storage from them and connecting via FC. And since the SANs
are replicating across our two DC's we have a ready made DR solution.
What I can't find out though is, can IBMi IPL off a HPE 3PAR SAN? I know it
can off an IBM DS8886 which I was planning to use in another DC where we
have these SANs but I cannot find documemenation on the HPE SANs. I think
the IBM Storwize V5100 SAN can also be IPL devices but they might be
overkill for what we want given we have an existing SAN in the DC.
