Dedup and encryption are kinda mutually exclusive are they not?

As to your other questions it's the manual mounting of the correct tape,
setting the expiration on the tape or initializing as needed, then dealing
with the save job if the tape size is overrun, (which happens regularly with
LTO5 size virtual tapes). The user interface is just not that easy to do
that stuff.

I've not seen it in random mode (sadly these customers will not buy BRMS) so
that may be very different.

Steve,

1) Configured using Random mode or Sequential mode, (I need to be in Random
mode)
2) Are they backing up multiple LPARs with the LaserVault VTL?
3) Do you know how it is attached to Power I , fiber channel direct, fiber
channel switch, or other?
4) Are they duplicating their backups, if so which method,
a) BRMS AUTODUP,
b) LaserVault
c) Exagrid
5) Are they using the Exagrid DEDUP option with the backups?
6) Are they encrypting their backup?

Paul

I have customers using Laservault VTL with Exagrid for back-end storage.
BRMS works with the Laservault as a 3573 tape library and is supported with
BRMS.

Anyone in the group using Exagrid EX32000E (or other model) for VTL with
BRMS?
Reviewing the specs, BRMS is not listed a supported application.

Thank You
