Likely you are using exchange or 365. Outlook directly talks to the email server, and is authenticated. Outside emails aren't. It is likely something like this:

Subject: SNDEMAIL and distribution lists
So have asked helpdesk to create an email distribution list so that our i can email to one email address but many recipients receive. I'm sure you are well aware of this simple concept.
They said they created one and i tested it with outlook and worked fine.
Both recipients on the address received the email.
I tried with the SNDEMAIL command on our i and it failed (undeliverable).
However we can successfully send to other email addresses that are not this newly create "distribution list" email address on the i.
What is different about this new email address to the point where it does not work?
Seems like it is only functional from outlook??
