Hi all

There are openings on the COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC). You do need to be a member of COMMON, first of all. As it is now, there can be up to 16 members, including up to 4 business partners, ISVs, or consultants, 1 from the IBM i education community, and the rest representing their own company.

Once you fill out an application, have been interviewed, perhaps, by present members, and have been approved by the COMMON board, then your company will need a signed Feedback Program Agreement (FPA) with IBM - another kind of NDA.

The commitment includes attending face-to-face meetings with IBM architects in Rochester, MN, twice a year, and attending 2 monthly conference calls, usually 1 with the entire CAAC and 1 with one of 3 subgroups who review RFEs for Application Development, Db2 and IFS, and System Administration.

Here is an example of an RFE we added a comment to - click on the Comments tab to see them --

It is expected that members attend PowerUP and/or Fall meetings of COMMON. Basically, that the members are active to some degree in COMMON.

Here is the current page on the COMMON site - there is a link there where you can apply -

There are some other comments there about expectations.

Take a look and see if it sounds interesting - one of the benefits my company had was having a direct relationship with those who work on this system.

Regards
Vern
