Evan,

Almost! Unfortunately, it opens in it's own editor, not the application
that is mapped to the extension.

I built a workaround by creating a share to the specific directory and then
mapping a network drive to it. For the limited number of users needing it,
that has solved the immediate problem.

Thanks.

Subject: Re: iSeries Navigator double click to open IFS files

Hi Jim

I remember you could set up any file to be editied. The procedure to do this
was:
- Open Ops Navigator
- Navigate to System and click the + sign
- Click on the "File Systems" + sign
- Right-click on Integrated File Systems & select "Properties"
- Change the Enable Edit menu option radio button to "All files"

Hope this is what you were after.

Folks:

I'm dealing with a V5R4 system using iSeries Navigator (as opposed to
ACS) and the client would like to double click on a document (such as
.xls or
.doc) and have it open.

I seem to remember a method to do that by setting the CCSID or some
check box in Navigator, but it's been so long I just don't remember it.

Can someone refresh my aged memory?
