That reminds me of the SQL0901 I used to get from STRSQL. Usually on a very
simple query. I could run the same query on a different session, completely
successfully. It would show up at random, and then after a logoff, it would
disappear. Fortunately, I haven't ever seen it in a program.

I agree - but so far reproducing it "on demand" is proving difficult. It
is for sure though not limited to the internal emulator as my partner Susan
had the same issue on her Mac and the Mac version of RDi doesn't support
anything but the external ACS.

Yep, works exactly how one would expect. But I am using Standalone iACS
to
run it.

Did you say that they were using the terminal built into RDi? Maybe
something is getting corrupted there? Maybe shutdown RDi, reopen, and try
again? I don't use that component, but this so smells like a CCSID issue
and with RDi's less than perfectly stable reputation, maybe something is
getting horked up there.

Absolutely - this is one that exhibited the issue.

And please remember it is a teaching exercise - they hadn't learnt
SELECT
or ELSEIF when they wrote this~!

dcl-s a int(10);
dcl-s b int(5) inz(100);
dcl-s c int(5) inz(50);
dcl-s Operator Char(1);

Dsply 'Select Operator (+ - * /):' ' ' Operator;

If Operator = '+';
a = b + c;
EndIf;

If Operator = '-';
a = b - c;
EndIf;

If Operator = '*';
a = b * c;
EndIf;

If Operator = '/';
a = b / c;
EndIf;

Dsply a;

*inlr = *on;

That is very odd. Are the programs simple enough to share?

None of the above Mark.

Sequence was.

Write program, compile it, run it - * works
Write second version of program adding additional logic. * doesn't
work.
Tried first program again * doesn't work.

Same RDi session, same 5250 session, same user - and it all happened
within 30 minutes!

Was the failing program compiled by a different workstation using a
different CCSID? When constants are compiled, are they converted to
the
run-time CCSID, or do they stay in the CCSID from the compile? I
suspect
the latter.

That was my first thought David but the same 520 session produced

still
the

Shouldn't be. This is a tiny partition that we only use for
training.
It has had the same set up since first created.

One of the people who experienced the problem had a 5250 session
running and didn't sign off/on or change anything between runs and
still
experieinced the problem.

Are all the workstations using the same code page?

I once had a problem where a '$' was being interpreted by the
system
as a cents sign because the host was running with CCSID 37 but the
workstation was running in a non US-English code page.
