This would be my first question as well. You certainly need the host controller with at least one disk of 39554383872 Bytes or larger attached for the load source disk. That number creates a 35GB disk, the minimum for i 7.2 and up.

Have you created the HOST connections on the v5010? The v5010 Volumes need to mapped to the WWPNs of the fiber adapters on the POWER9.

Direct connect is supported with 16GB on both ends.

Subject: Power9 with Direct Attached V50x0

Hi all,

I'm trying to connect a new Power9 (41A) with EN0A (16Gb FC adapter) to
a V5010E with 16Gb controllers.We have V7R3.
According to SSIC , this is possible on Power8, and according to some
PDFs this is possible with 16Gb-16Gb adapter-controller connection on
Storwize and SVC systems.

The issue is... we can't see any disk when trying to install LIC. We
have tried with 80GB, 100GB and 200GB disks with no luck.

Any clue ? Is it possible to connect this way (without VIOS)? Do I have
to perform any special task? On Diret SAN Attachment I've seen this is
transparent.
