The timezone isn't required, but you're right about the T, you can remove the T but it's supposed to be replaced with a blank not a dash. So you're right, it's really not stored in ISO 8601. I was thinking you could agree on an alternative to the T but I can't find that anywhere other than my recollection.

Yes, there's a format named ISO, but it's not compliant with ISO 8601.

The ISO format on the IBM i is missing the 'T' delimiter and the timezone info.
