I don't think that will work. Seems like saving the *UDFS also 'opens it
up' and saves the internals so you can restore one at a time. Call me on
this if I'm wrong.

However what you could do is create an image catalog with a *REALLYBIG
virtual optical disk in it. Load it into an optical drive. Copy the
stuff there.

At backup time you ONLY need to back up the *REALLYBIG optical disk on a
SAVE 21 most likely as the data on it won't change. But security will be
for the one single item in the IFS. Won't make any difference whatever
to the SAVSECDTA.

Negatives I can think of are that the files will be under /QOPT/<vol id>
Performance as I recall isn't stellar. But if it's read only and perhaps
even 'read maybe' do you care?

the unmount may be unnecessary, i'm not sure about individual file
authorities. I've tested SAV/RST and you save the one UDFS object and
during the restore it "says" it restored x number of objects

so in super simple terms is behaves like a mounted ZIP file(without
compression, so more like a tar file)


more testing necessary.
