And in my experience, HP's quality took a nosedive in the early 2000s.
My 2100M is wonderful, good enough that I've had it serviced a number of times, and now have to use third-party rebuilt toner cartridges (the OEM cartridges having been discontinued), in order to avoid a more recent model of lesser quality (or without in-printer Postscript RIPping, which for me is a non-negotiable requirement).

My 2100M gets pampered.
