Since you were bringing down the entire system anyway it probably wouldn't have made a difference.
You ended up with an abnormal IPL anyhow.

No, we never tried it.  Since literally everything else was down on the machine, we just continued on with the PTF apply.  We decided we'd rather do that than force an abnormal IPL.
