Does anyone know the technique to find which application on the i is using
a specific port number?

I didn't, but if the job using the port will give you what you need, I think
I fumbled my way through one technique:

NETSTAT *CNN

F14 - Display Port Numbers

F13 - Sort by Column and select local or remote port column, depending
on which you're looking for.

Page down to the port in question and type a 5 beside it to display the
details

F8 - display jobs
