They are: prompt the command and press F1 on the heading...... The
difference being the documentation in the help text for IBM i is
significantly high quality that the MAN pages.

If you are referring to the PASE or SSH environments, you are correct little
help with MAN pages, but I'll argue that folks are better served by going to
the internet like gnu.org to look that stuff up anyway. I would prefer IBM
not spend money, resources, or time to get MAN pages up when there are so
many other things they could do for us.

man pages tell you the how. They don't tell you the why. So yes, you need to
know what you want to do, but if you do, man is an excellent, quick way of
getting information. It would be great if they were on the IBM i.

The purpose behind them is to put on some sort of documentation the
various commands and their options. They do that by simply listing
them with a perfunctory description of what the command does. Example
"grep". In my view, one of the most powerful command available in
Linux. The man page lists the command and the options. Some

Showing some contrast to that look at the "grep" documentation on gnu.org.
Now we have something that might be more useful to someone that is

This is getting off topic so, I'll go away now, but recomending the
MAN pages to anyone is the equivelent of telling them to go away and
don't bother me. Try recomending something that might help.
