It's difficult for all of us, you and me, because these classic business
systems are layered like liqueurs, there's so much to know.

I struggle with the basic IBM i stuff. PASE is to me like water to a duck

You're welcome ... w/r/t PASE, these tools emerged and evolved on open
source Unix systems.

OpenSSH comes from OpenBSD.

I think possibly z/OS would have gone the way of the dodo if USS (Unix
System Services) had not emerged.

And USS would be unusable without OpenSSH which has become a *critical
strategic* part of IBM's offering.

This stuff which we call PASE is not a bolt-on hood ornament for IBM i.
It's the *mainstream* to keep the platform viable. It's worth studying in
its own right.
