A different key for different remote servers. So to accomplish that
i simply generate the keys and then rename the id_rsa and id_rsa.pub
to what is descriptive of the remote server the key is for.

Why not use the same key on the remote servers?

Just add the id_rsa.pub contents to the remote servers authorized_keys file.
