Some of the apps are "engines" that are used from several different /home folders (sFTP stuff).
What is the protocol on where to place these common apps on the IFS?
Make our own apps folder?

I tend to put stuff in /usr/local ... for example, Mailman on my VPS is installed in /usr/local/mailman. I put all my web content in subdirs under /usr/local/www.

Some people put stuff in /opt. Letsencrypt puts certbot stuff in /opt/eff. Amazon puts their CLI stuff in /opt/aws.

Just some options.
