We are not going to ask our customers to change system settings at the cost of a very infrequent splf request.

Thanks for the input.

1) If they changed the system value QLOGOUTPUT to *PND, or changed the job description that the job runs under to LOGOUTPUT(*PND), it would also work for expired batch jobs.
2) The point being: It may be time to reevaluate the tool. However, you are not the only one in that boat. IBM doesn't like it when they request a spool joblog and I run DSPJOBLOG OUTPUT(*PRINT) and use iACS and forget to change it from pdf to text and send them the pdf.

3) Spooled joblogs are so past tense. Do you do a CPYF FROMFILE(MYLIB/MYFILE) TOFILE(*PRINT) and then query that file or do you query the file directly?

I believe qsys2.joblog is only for active joblogs if I remember correctly... so in my case that wouldn’t work as the job was from an expired batch job.

In your hypothetical question however... then I reckon they would send it as a .csv. Then a cpyfimpf on my side wouldn’t put it back together as a splf... so not sure where you are going with this.

I'm curious as to what would happen if a customer was requested to
send you a joblog and they ran

CREATE TABLE QGPL.MYJOBLOG AS (
SELECT *
FROM TABLE(QSYS2.JOBLOG_INFO('113991/ROB/ROBS1')) A
) WITH DATA;

CL: CPYTOIMPF FROMFILE(QGPL/MYJOBLOG) TOSTMF('/home/ROB/myjoblog.csv')
STMFCCSID(*PCASCII) RCDDLM(*CRLF) ADDCOLNAM(*SQL);

And they sent you the csv file?

Thanks Jon.

I realize it’s quite a bass-ackwards request.

Only way I know is to create a text file from the pdf then copy that to spool.

Have a customer that has generated a splf for us to look at. They sent it to us as a pdf.

We have a joblog analyzer tool that works only with splf‘ son the current system.

Is there a fairly simple way to move/convert that pdf to a new splf on our system, so that we may run the tool over it?
