I didn't ask for the justification. I asked for the *motivation*. And
"so I won't get fired" is not the kind of motivation I mean.

I am not trying to give you a hard time. The reason I've pursued this
line of questioning is that it is often helpful to know the whole
picture so that you don't inadvertently close yourself off from better
solutions. I fully appreciate that there are some constraints that you
truly have no power to change. But we've all been in that place where
we're operating under a set of constraints, but we're too close to the
problem to realize that a subset of those constraints actually don't
have to be there at all.

Anyway, it's clearly either too difficult, time-consuming, or painful
for you to explain any further, so I'll just drop it.

Given your situation as you've presented it, I don't see any reason to
pursue anything other than your original plan.
