It's your job logging level. What I've done is this:
Retrieve the job logging level BEFORE I invoke a PASE/QSH process
CHGJOB to NOT do logging - As I recall... (4 00 *NOLIST)
Invoke the PASE/QSH process
CHGJOB to restore the logging to what it was before

That was it. It was 4 00 *SECLVL on the customer box, vs. 4 00 *NOLIST here.

And given that it involves over 9000 PASE invocations, I'm glad I found
DLTSPLF FILE(*SELECT) SELECT(*CURRENT *ALL *ALL <user data>)
