I had to remember that QNTC is not NetServer. QNTC is going FROM IBM i to your PC's. NetServer is generally TO IBM i. Granted, there are alternatives, like NFS, etc.

Keeping that in mind, then I tend to lean towards the SMB 2 point also.
Check system value QPWDLVL on the old and new systems. A difference there can be a big thing too. I think the default is 0. 1&2 are a complete waste of time and effort. 3 is where you need to be.
