RE: API for service tool info?

Ok, I'm not a hardware guy so this might be a stupid question to someone who
is.

When I do a DSPHDWRSC *STG to *OUTFILE, I see a resource description = 18
that matches what I know are my disk drives (based on resource name).

It looks like I can use the QGYRHRL API and I'm assuming the resource
category (parm 4) would be 5 - Storage device resources. Should I expect to
see in the resource category parm of RHRL010 a value of 18 for disk drives
(based on the *OUTFILE information)? Are these values documented somewhere
so when I need something else I don't have to go the DSPHDWRSC route to
figure out what to look for?

If DSPHDWRSC (suggested by Paul Roy) meets your needs then I would recommend
going with it. There are however APIs available along these lines. There are
others, but the main ones can be found under Hardware Resouces

I have a client that is asking for "reports" that include things that
I have only been able to find using system service tools. One example
is looking at their disks. They want serial numbers, ASP info, type,
model, size, resource name, and some other stuff. I'm guessing they
just want everything on one page instead of looking at multiple pages
from SST to see the details.



Are there APIs that can retrieve this type of info if it only exists
inside of SST? I'm just after a pretty generic yes or no so I know
whether I'm wasting my time trying to find them.
