We are working on a project that combines C# web development and RPGLE using the same data. Our C# group has created the table below to identify which date field amongst all the different date fields is to be used in a comparison with another file. We are to chain to this file with the CDDateId and use the CDYYFIELD to select the date from the master file.

Our problem is in RPGLE, I now have the value MAPRYY in the field CDYYFIELD. How do I then retrieve the value in the field MAPRYY ?

CDDATEID CDDATENAME CDTABLE CDKEYFIELD CDYYFIELD
1 N/A
2 Application Date MASTER MAEKEY MAAPYY
3 Purchase Date MASTER MAEKEY MAPRYY
4 Lock Expiration Date MASTER MAEKEY MAEXYY
5 Lock Date MASTERHST ELOAN LOCKYY
6 Reservation Date LCDATA1 ADEKEY ADLOCKDT

My thoughts originally is to build a simple service program that would use nested If statements to retrieve the actual date and pass it back to the calling program. This would allow us to only have to update one program if they add more rows to the above table.

If anyone has another idea, we would be happy to learn. We have only RPGLE on the system.

Not sure if I explained this very well, we have been looking for ideas for a few days, but haven't found anything.

Thanks,
