I have often found that people will find whatever answer they are looking
for.

Will IBM support that machine on a "Time and Material" basis? Probably.
But this means they ain't going to work on it 24x7. And if it loses a
backplane and a new backplane costs more than a brand new Power 9 with a
lot of extra bells and whistles thrown in then that's what you will be
charged. I think Pete Massiello can quote a recent example of just such a
thing. Oh, and labor will be a few hundred dollars an hour with a ?4?
hour minimum.

Will IBM offer a standard support contract where you expect 24x7 service
and no charge for labor or parts? Heck no. They've announced end of
support for P7 machines, they are not going to offer support for a P5.

Sure wish the Newsletter link at https://www.itechsol.com/newsletter/ was
updated with the recent one.
