Configuring IBM i NetServer to Use a GUEST Profile
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=nas8N1016971

BM i NetServer supports the use of a GUEST (or anonymous) profile. This enables users of Windows workstations who do not have a valid IBM i user profile to access the NetServer shares. If GUEST is enabled and the Windows login does not match a valid IBM i profile, then NetServer logs the user in as GUEST.

Subject: RE: NetServer Guest profile

I notified the boss to see if he wants to disable it.

We use IBM Security Identity Manager to keep the user id's and their
passwords matching between IBM i, Windows, Domino, etc.

System value . . . . . : QPWDLVL
Description . . . . . : Password level
Password level . . . . : 3
3 User profile passwords with a length of 1-128 characters
are supported. i5/OS NetServer passwords for Windows
95/98/ME clients will be removed from the system.

Seems to only be affecting this very small group of users.
