Or, create a command to simplify a complex parm set within CL. Then.... "Why are you making things so complicated. I can just call the program."

I find that for the dinosaur that will not use a subprocedure or a service
program but will use a call that it helps to create a simple program as a
wrapper for the subprocedure.
So he calls a program:  CALL UTILPGM PARM(VALUEIN, VALUEOUT)
Little may he know that the UTILPGM program simply does
valueout = FigureOutWhatIsNeeded(valuein)
