I stand corrected. SHA-256 was introduced in 2001 according to Wikipedia.

It does look like the API was introduced in V5R3 but IBM online documentation does not appear to go that far back.

I agree that it was created after V5R2 but the QC3HASH function is
documented as supporting SHA-256 in V5R4.
