Most of the time (until last summer always) we do a nightly SAVE 21. (Yes,
we get that window unless production is working overtime, then we need to
reduce our window, so we save selected libraries during the week and a Save
21 on the weekend.) But, it appears that bottle neck for backup speed is
the tape drive (again-cost factor).

One thought about 'Read Mostly'-- when you perform a backup, every object
saved gets 'touched' to update the date of last save. This will only affect
those sectors with object headers, but if you're backing up daily, that eats
into your 'Read Mostly.'
