At first thought, something about this didn't "smell right". It hit me a little while later that the PARENT table is used extensively in 5250, HTTP and batch jobs. If the foreign key authority was an OS/Db2 issue, our app suite would be at a standstill. That's when I remembered we use an exit point security package from Help Systems (Network Security), which protects ODBC traffic. Since this only seems to affect ODBC, I'm guessing this issue is caused by something they're doing when they validate ODBC requests.

Interesting. At first I wondered why any authority at all would be needed. Then I got to thinking. If I had a parent table with a key of
A0010 and the text was "Top secret covert operations". And I tried to change that key and it rejected it because I wasn't allowed to even know if there were any projects in the ActiveDeployment table tagged "Top secret covert operations".

I would try ensuring that your reads ARE reads only. For example select ... from ... for fetch only
