I'm not sure how the order of things can be different in my two scenarios.

I'm typing the command name and either pressing ENTER or F4 on the command
line. I do not mean pressing F4 on a prompt. In both cases, it calls the
validity program (which changes the and then the processing program.

Hi Brian

I have a feeling it is about the order things are called - as a test,
you might actually put in a choice program and see whether that is
before or after the validity checking program - I forget, and it's been
quite awhile.
